The aspiring pilot is flying high after being named the Australian Air League’s Junior Victorian Cadet of the Year.
Driven by a dream to one day take the controls herself, Alannah was the first cadet to join the Shepparton Squadron, and was promoted to Leading Cadet in August 2025.
Her path to the state title saw her travel to Melbourne for an interview in front of a panel, which included the league’s chief commissioner.
There she was asked numerous questions about her knowledge and the history of the Australian Air League.
Three weeks later, she was excited to find out she had snagged the top prize at the Victorian review, alongside the rest of the Shepparton Squadron, which took out the inaugural education trophy.
Attending meetings once a week at the Shepparton Airport, Alannah dives into her aviation education with great interest and enthusiasm.
While she enjoys marching and parades, her favourite thing to do is just simply watch the planes land.
She also likes getting tours of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service aircraft or air ambulance with the rest of the cadets, who get to sit in it and learn from crews during quiet periods.
The squadron will be getting a change of scenery and have new things to look forward to, with meetings relocating to the Wunghnu Football Club rooms for 2026.
