The Campaspe TAC L2P Program said it was thrilled to announce the arrival of a new Mitsubishi ASX for Echuca, supporting young people to obtain their driver’s licence in a modern and safe vehicle.
Moama Bowling Club has once again given a community cause a leg-up, with its sponsorship making the vehicle’s purchase possible.
“We are incredibly grateful to Moama Bowling Club for their support and belief in the TAC L2P Program,” co-ordinator Nikki Harris said.
Club training and experience manager Mark Laming noted how central driving was to life in regional Australia.
“It's important when it comes to things like employability and mobility around the town and region, so we see it as a really important program for young adults in the town,” he said.
“If we can ensure that our community does have that mobility and ability to gain employment, then we’re doing our bit.”
The program links eligible people aged between 16 and 21 with an L2P vehicle and trained volunteer mentors to help achieve the 120 hours of driving practice required for a probationary licence.
It fosters independence in young people, and aims to increase employment, education and social connection opportunities.
The new vehicle will help meet growing demand for the program regionally, and ensure learners can build the skills and confidence needed to become responsible drivers.
