The Rutherglen Vintage Bike Ride promises to turn heads with prizes handed out to participants who dress best within the theme.
Bikes from years gone by are set to grace the streets of Rutherglen and Wahgunyah, with fundraising and wine appreciation riding side by side in the historic towns.

The Rotary Club of Rutherglen will host the Rutherglen Vintage Bike Ride on Saturday, April 11, an event that is sure to draw the attention of locals and tourists alike.
This is a relaxed day that showcases the northeast Victorian wine country while raising funds for important causes.
The Rotary Australia campaign ‘Say NO to Domestic and Family Violence’ and the Cornishtown CFA are two causes the ride is supporting this year.
Rotary Club member Paul Hauff takes a joint leadership role in organising the ride and said the event attracts more than 200 people and raises $10-12 thousand annually.
“It’s not a race,” Paul said.
“We give people a map and they decide which way they want to go.
“We encourage everyone to dress up in vintage clothing and hand out prizes throughout the day for best dressed outfits.
“It also aligns with grape harvest to keep with the ‘vintage’ theme.”
Bike riders are given maps with several route options taking them through the region to Cofield Wines and back to Rutherglen Convent.

The ride begins and ends at the Rutherglen Convent, with staggered start times to keep the pace comfortable.
There are several distance options, travelling along the rail trail, loop cycle paths and gentle local roads, all leading to Cofield Wines in Wahgunyah.
Most sections are sealed and carry very little traffic, making it suitable for a wide range of riders.
A barbecue lunch is included while at Cofield’s, with the event then heading back to the convent where the afternoon continues with drinks, snacks, live music and the raffle draw.
There are even some celebrity guests expected, with television presenter Mike Tomalaris roaming the crowd to interview them.
If cycling is not your thing, you are still very welcome to come along for lunch, music and the raffle.
It is as much about community and connection as it is about the ride itself.
For those travelling from further afield, this is a good excuse to make a weekend of it and stay a little longer to explore Rutherglen’s wineries, restaurants and local attractions.
