Bereavement Peer Support Group
The Bereavement Peer Support Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 10am for an optional gentle 30-minute walk, followed by a cuppa and morning tea. Echuca-Moama Kiwanis Club
Kiwanis’ main work is supporting children, especially via the Terrific Kids program in local primary schools. The group’s 10m vessel, MV Kiwanis, provides cruises for disability groups, and members use the barbecue trailer for community work and for fundraising. No special skills required. The main thing is you’re looking for purpose and, when time permits, are happy to work in a team. Inner Wheel Club of Echuca
International Inner Wheel is the largest women’s voluntary service organisation in the world. It was established in 1924 and now has more than 100,000 members from 103 countries. Echuca TOWN (Take Off Weight Naturally) Club is a small, friendly group, with members who support each other to achieve the same goal — to lose weight. Echuca Horticultural Society
Echuca Horticultural Society members meet on the second Wednesday of the month (excluding December and January) at 2pm (please arrive by 1.45pm) in the Moama Football Netball Club rooms, Kirchhofer St, Moama. During meetings members share information about growing our gardens, listen to presentations delivered by invited guest speakers, bring along items from our gardens to display and items to sell on our trading table. Echuca-Moama Twin Rivers Probus Club
Probus provides retirees with the chance to connect socially, which is so important in today’s world. It is designed to provide individuals who have retired or are nearing retirement with the chance to promote friendship, social interaction, and intellectual stimulation. Echuca-Moama Twin Rivers Probus Club offers members various activities including weekly morning coffee, monthly indoor bowls, monthly card days, gardening club, dining at different local restaurants or attending one of the organised day trips. Australian Plant Society
Echuca-Moama Group of the Australian Plant Society meets at the Echuca library on the fourth Thursday of the month (from February to November) at 7.30pm. Echuca Bridge Club has weekly duplicate tournaments on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting at 4pm, with hand records always available. Echuca-Moama and District Probus Club
Our Probus club meets on the last Monday of every month excluding January at 10am in the Rich River Golf Club board room. We have a guest speaker every month, and they are always very informative. We also have a five-minute talk from one of our members about any interesting happenings in their life. We try to have at least one outing a month, usually car pooling, and we do occasionally combine with one or more of the other clubs on either longer day trips or even overnighters. We also have a coffee morning get together at a local venue on the first Monday of the month, and after the committee meeting on the third Monday, any members can join them at lunch, again at a local venue. Mr Perfect is a men’s support group. The community organisation connects men across Australia over a relaxed free monthly barbecue to chat about all things life. Moama Cemetery Volunteers Group meets at the Moama cemetery on the first Saturday of each month from 9am until about 11.30am, finishing with a cuppa. The group helps keep the grounds and older graves tidy, helps in the general maintenance of the cemetery and researches older burials. There is a job for people of every age and capability. Echuca Historical Society and museum
Echuca Historical Society’s museum is at 1-3 Dickson St, Echuca opposite Hopwood Gardens and is open seven days a week, from 10am to 2pm. The society is struggling to keep the doors open and needs volunteers to help in the visitor reception area. Requirements are to be able to welcome visitors with a smile, take admission fees and a little bit of housekeeping. Excellent training will be provided and you definitely don’t need to be a history buff or necessarily a local to do the job. Echuca-Moama Family History Group’s research rooms are open at the Old Telegraph Station, 60 Chanter St, Moama. Experienced researchers are keen to assist you in exploring your family history. We can provide guidance to beginners and also to members of the public who are experienced in family history research. There is an extensive library of written and digital resources, including detailed local birth, death, marriage, cemetery and hospital records; plus old newspapers for your research. Echuca Bellas (formerly Bella A’Capella) is a choir of enthusiastic singers who meet every Monday at the Federal Band hall in High St, Echuca. The harmonies produced are usually in three parts. Did you know a thriving Special Olympics team runs in Echuca? Run by a well-organised local committee, we have accredited coaches that along with enthusiastic volunteers hold regular training sessions for budding athletes in swimming, bocce, basketball, netball and tenpin bowling. If you are over the age of eight with an intellectual disability and a love for sport, come along and see what you can do. Or maybe you are looking to volunteer with an organisation that strives for an inclusive community and will give you a great sense of achievement, leaving you constantly with a smile on your face. Anyone who would like to watch, learn or play a game of golf croquet is welcome to join members at Rich River Croquet Club. Members play three games every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9.30am to noon. All welcome to attend — no experience necessary. Mallets and equipment provided, while learning to play. Please wear flat-soled shoes. Croquet is suitable for men and women of all ages.
