Shepparton United export Oscar Ryan has earned a one-year extension at Adelaide after a promising start to his budding AFL career.
The assured defender made his first appearance in the top flight three years after he was drafted to the Crows, impressing with 19 disposals and a goal on debut against Essendon in round 21.
He backed that up with another solid performance against Richmond a week later, and although Ryan didn’t feature in Adelaide’s finals series, the 21-year-old has shown enough to sign a one-year contract alongside Mitch Hinge, Billy Dowling, and Charlie Edwards.
“It’s a great result for our club to have Mitch, Oscar, Billy and Charlie recommit for next season,” Adelaide list manager Jarryd Roughead said.
“To see Oscar and Charlie debut this year, and take that next big step in their career, it makes us excited for what they might achieve with another pre-season.”
Ryan played 43 games in the SANFL before his debut, but looks likely to play a key role in the Crows AFL defence going forward.
Meanwhile, teammate and Shepparton Bears product Jordon Butts has advised he will be making the move to the Western Bulldogs during the upcoming free agency period.
Butts played 94 games across eight seasons for the Crows.
