Crossenvale Community House manager Rob Foran said it was the organisation’s third bus trip funded by Campaspe Shire Council’s seniors grants program.
“Each year, our house has taken locals on various road trips around the Campaspe Shire,” he said.
“We have done a tour of the silo art, gone to local museums and visited the Torrumbarry Weir in the past.”
This year’s trip began at Gargarro for morning tea and a walk through the botanical gardens, before the group headed to Rushworth to explore the historic high street.
“We went to Rushworth and explored the old town and had a tour around the historic high street, stopping at the Rushworth Hotel’s war memorial room for lunch,” Mr Foran said.
Participants enjoyed exploring local history, botanical gardens, stopping at Gargarro for morning tea and discovering new parts of the shire.

The group returned to Crossenvale via the channel cutting at the Warringa Basin.
“Everyone had a spectacular time and enjoyed learning about the history of the local community and found out more about the botanical gardens and what grows indigenous to our local area,” Mr Foran said.
“People got to see parts of the shire that they hadn’t seen before.”
Mr Foran thanked the Caledonian Hotel for letting the group use its bus for free and said the group looked forward to another trip next year.
