Directed by Lesley Robins and Tricia Deakin, and written by Mark C. Bourne, the play A Better You is set to be a knee-slapper of the highest degree.
Centred around a group of women meeting weekly in their community hall, each week poses a different activity.
In among the normal tasks of fundraising, arts and craft, raffles and knitting, the group leader has prepared something a little special for the women.
She has arranged a session from a guest speaker, a representative of the self-help group A Better You.
During the course of the evening, different issues arise, many of which have been simmering just below the surface, all but ready to blow.
One member is trying to organise a wedding, another is getting over her partner leaving her for a male bikie, all while the hunt is on for a toilet roll thief.
Even the self-help guru begins to unfold, battling her own relationship problems.
Throughout the evening, things go from bad to worse.
Sure to get crowds belly laughing, co-director Lesley Robins said the play was one not to miss.
“We’ve been cracking our necks to get back into things and finally put on a show,” she said.
“I couldn’t think of a better way to get back into live performances. It’s a really special show and is going to be a hilarious, entertaining night out, that’s for sure.”
The show will be held at Radcliffe’s Function Centre in cabaret style with five performances in total, running from July 21 to 24, including an afternoon matinee.
Tickets, including the performance and food, are $48 for adults and $45 for concession holders. They will be available via TryBooking.
