MOTORISTS using the Echuca-Moama bridge are being reminded to place their border permits on the dashboard to ensure a steady flow of traffic.
Murray River Police District Inspector Paul Huggett said more exemptions being granted to cross the border meant more traffic.
“There are a lot more permits being issued. We had 37 the other day and 22 this morning,” he said on Wednesday.
“Traffic is flowing pretty well. Most of the time people are getting across in less than 10 minutes, except on the odd occasion.
“We would just remind people to put their permits on their dashboard and have their driver's licence handy to help the process.
“With medical exemptions, we remind people to carry that permit with them, as well as a letter from their doctor.
“Not many vehicles have had to be turned back and those who haven't got one are being helped by the police. They are taking them into a separate lane and helping them to apply for a permit on their phone, so they're working well with the community.”
Insp Huggett thanked community members for their patience and support.
