Goorambat against Moyhu was always going to be a close encounter, with both sides evenly matched.
The Bats got off to a good start kicking five goals in the first quarter, only to have Moyhu come back in the second term.
Goorambat missed a number of opportunities in the last half of the game to let the match slip from its fingers, and would be disappointed with its game overall, but the club looks not far away from four quarters of good football.
It was an emotional day for Moyhu with the passing of club and league legend Fred Baker, with both clubs standing for a minute’s silence before the game as a sign of respect for the great man.
Goorambat will now break for the interleague bye before returning to vie for the local White Ribbon Cup against Benalla All Blacks in two weeks, with both sides in desperate need of a win.
