ECHUCA police and Echuca West Neighbourhood Watch will be in the Bunnings car park tomorrow for Operation Safe Plate Day.

Neighbourhood Watch and Echuca police will fit one-way anti-theft screws to vehicles with the option to ‘park and shop’ so your car can be fitted while you visit Bunnings.

Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator Len Wills said number plate theft has been rife this year and supermarket carparks were the worst places for it.

Safe Plate Day will be held from 9am-2pm, weather permitting.

Campaspe police Inspector Anthony Vanderzalm said crime prevention was everyone’s responsibility and everyone had an important role to play.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer with Echuca West Neighbourhood Watch can contact Mr Wills on 54801083.
