Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was seriously assaulted at a hotel in Mooroopna last night.
Police have been told the assault occurred at a hotel at the corner of McLennan Rd and Northgate St sometime between 11pm and midnight.
Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the assault and believe the man was assaulted by more than one person.
A 42-year-old Mooroopna man has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 52-year-old Mooroopna man was arrested early this morning and is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
Investigators are keen to speak to any witnesses or anyone that have been at the hotel at the time of the assault.

12pm: A hotel in Mooroopna is currently taped off by police due to an assault that took place on the premises overnight.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Acting Sergeant Jeff Wren said a person has been hospitalised following the incident.
He said the time of the incident is still to be confirmed and the investigation is ongoing.
