ECHUCA-MOAMA little athletics star Nate Smith can now add second best in the state in the Under 9s 70m to his growing list of accolades.

After finishing third during heats, Smith advanced to the final where he ran a brilliant time of 11 seconds flat to claim second place.

It was the best result for Echuca Moama athletes at the Victoria State track and field championships event run on the weekend.

In all, eight locals competed at the event.

Nate Smith: 2nd U9 70m final (11.00s), 3rd U9 70m heat (11.14s), 17th U9 200m heat (33.47s), 17th U9 100m heat (15.79s), 18th U9 60m heat (11.32s).

Oskar Smartt-Gretgrix: 8th U14 discus throw (26.45m), 13th U14 shot put (9.92m).

Elijah Swiggs: 10th U11 shot put (8.88m), 19th U11 long jump (3.98m).

Lucy Gretgrix: 10th U9 shot put (5.20m), 13th U9 discus (11.46m).

Chelsea Swiggs: 14th U9 discus (11.37m).

Andrea Archibald: 15th U14 100m (13.48s).

Maya Kadri: 16th U15 javelin (22.01m).

Darcy Cullen: 19th U11 1500m (5:29.73min).
