U14s — Echuca Green 8.8.56 lt. Shepp Notre Gold 12.5.77

As the chill lifted early on Sunday morning Echuca Green took on Shepp Notre Gold at home.

After a couple of quick goals from the opposition the boys responded at the 13 minute mark in the first quarter turning the game around with four goals in five minutes.

Carson Smith led the charge with the first goal, a hard fought contest in the square.

Sol Fleming took a sensational mark to kick for the second goal.

The third goal was a superb passage of play from the centre to end with a solid mark from Judd McCauley at the top of the square.

Alan O’Neill took honours for the fourth after a contest for the ball.

Leading into the second quarter the team were pumped, our ball movers Levi Hone, Jed Dargon and River Stevens doing all they could to create scoring opportunities.

Zac Heggarty and Josh Dempster put up a solid performance in the forward line but a strong defence from Shepp resulted in too many behinds, but Echuca green held onto the lead into half time.

The last half of the game was hard fought with Jett Westblade instrumental in moving the ball forward, supported by Chay Williams and Kyle Green who gave 110 per cent to their roles.

Our defence Tyson Bourke, Ed Cunningham and Connor McCoy worked hard to keep the ball in our forward line but Shepp Notre kicked away in the last half to finish on top.

Goals: Sol Fleming, Carson Smith, Kyle Green, Alan O’Neill, Judd McCauley.

Awards: Judd McCauley, Sol Fleming, Chay Williams, Levi Hone, Connor McCoy, Zac Heggarty.
