Intereach, which provides a vast range of community services as well as employment opportunities, is supporting the Golden Bunny Bonanza Christmas shopping promotion.
Its CEO, Keryn Fox, said it was no secret that many businesses are ‘‘doing it tough’’ in these times of zero water allocation and drought.
‘‘We can all play a small role in developing a more resilient community by making every effort to shop locally in the lead-up to Christmas,’’ she said.
‘‘Intereach is an integral part of the community, so we are happy to help promote the shop local message.’’
For more than 45 years, Intereach has been working in the Deniliquin district to strengthen and support the community and improve the social and personal wellbeing of Aboriginal people, children, families, older people, carers and people with a disability.
From humble beginnings it has branched out to be a leading service provider throughout the Riverina/Murray region of NSW, plus central and northern Victoria. But Deniliquin remains its ‘home base’.
‘‘At Intereach we understand the challenges being faced by many people in our community and have the support services that can help our local residents live a more valuable and meaningful life,’’ Ms Fox said.
‘‘Sometimes it is hard to know what is available, so we work alongside individuals to find the right support that suits their personal situation.
‘‘I would encourage anyone who thinks we may be able to provide them with any level of support to contact our office at the corner of Napier and Trickett Streets in Deniliquin, or phone our toll free number on 1300 488 226,” Ms Fox said.
‘‘If you fit any of the categories we support — Aboriginal people, children, families, older people, carers and people with a disability — we are here to help.’’
Intereach is also constantly seeking volunteers to help with its many programs, and would love to hear from any residents who may be willing to help out.
■ The sixth weekly Golden Bunny Bonanza draw will be conducted this afternoon. Entry tickets are earned for every $20 you spend at a participating store, up to 10 in any one purchase. See the participating businesses on page 14.
