Mr Berryman began his McDonald's career in 2014 as a full-time crew member in Deniliquin.
“I studied multiple courses with McDonald's and worked my way up from crew coach to shift manager, to department manager and then to restaurant manager,” he said.
He was later promoted to his current role across all three restaurants.
A key entry-level leadership position within the organisation is the crew coach role, which was Mr Berryman’s first step towards his current senior position.
“Our crew coach position is designed to welcome all new employees into the business to pass on all of McDonald's world-famous training,” Mr Berryman said.
“To become a crew coach, you go through McDonald's Crew Coach Development Program, which teaches you how to understand how to provide feedback and coach others, as well as their learning styles.”
The position also comes with a few additional perks, like higher pay and free meals.
Training methods are tailored to suit individual learning styles.
“Our training can be suited to any preferred method of training; from reading a guide, playing a video game or watching a series of short videos,” Mr Berryman said.
“Each learning style breaks down each task in the restaurant.”
After completing the initial training, a crew coach will observe the trainee completing tasks and provide feedback.
“Most of the training at McDonald's is on-the-job training, which can then be used in any industry after that,” Mr Berryman said.
“Interpersonal, customer service, workplace health and safety, food safety, cleanliness and problem-solving skills that are with you for life.”
The shift assistant role sits between crew coach and shift manager.
“In this role they are responsible for training and coaching our team as well as supporting the management team in the everyday operations of the restaurant, all while completing the McDonald's Manager Development Program,” Mr Berryman said.
“This is a series of modules and content on learning the basics of what it is to be a leader and how that can be applied to their role at McDonald's.
“Shift assistants have a high standard of leadership with their peers but can also assist shift managers run the restaurant with day-to-day tasks.”
McDonald's also employs a large number of school-aged staff.
“We can help them maintain a great work-life balance,” Mr Berryman said.
“School being a student's biggest priority, we can fit in well with these commitments like sports, dancing, music, etc.”

He added that many young employees enjoy working alongside friends and often meet peers from other local schools.
The minimum hiring age differs depending on the location.
For the Deniliquin and Moama NSW restaurants, the minimum hiring age is 14 years old, not 14 years and nine months as some may believe, and in Echuca, the age requirement is 15.
Mr Berryman said McDonald's offers long-term career prospects beyond the restaurant floor.
“We often get told from other industries outside of McDonald's that anyone who has worked at one of our restaurants will already be off to a great start,” he said.
