ERH's human resources, recruitment and return to work specialist Jemma Beer said the organisation was proud of what it offers both new and experienced staff.
“ERH offers a lot of career advancement opportunities,” she said.
“We are the largest employer in the Campaspe region, and we pride ourselves on being a teaching hospital.”
Mrs Beer said working at a regional hospital comes with distinct advantages.
“Our clinicians are fortunate to be able to experience various departments in their rotations,” she said.
“You feel like you are making a real difference in the community, and we are fortunate enough to be offered a wide range of training opportunities both here and in our neighbouring health services.”

With more than 1000 staff, ERH provides hospital, aged care and community health services, and is growing as a sub-regional teaching health service.
For those considering a career in health, Mrs Beer said there were pathways to suit a range of backgrounds.
“We have roles that require formal and recognised qualifications prior to starting, and a lot of those offer a structured graduate-type year that people can apply for after they have finished studies,” she said.
“We also have roles in which people can learn on the job, and we welcome people with similar experience or a passion to help others.”

Those wanting to explore working at ERH before committing could do so through several programs.
“We have a structured work experience program, a dedicated volunteer department, and ERH partners with a number of tertiary facilities to host student placements across all courses,” Mrs Beer said.
Allied health roles remain among the hardest to fill in regional areas.
“Roles like speech pathologist, podiatrist, and health information managers are in high demand,” Mrs Beer said.
“These roles require a university degree and we are competing with the private market for applicants also.”
Working at a regional hospital like ERH allows staff to gain experience in different departments, make a real difference in the community, and access a wide range of training opportunities.

For those ready to take the next step, Mrs Beer recommended checking ERH's Seek page.
“All external vacancies are advertised on that platform, and we also have a number of casual positions advertised on our website,” she said.
“Our staff are friendly, welcoming and supportive.
“We regularly receive feedback from new starters around how welcome they have felt within their first few months here at ERH.”
