Multiple agencies including SES units from Echuca, Cohuna and Yea as well as Echuca Moama Search and Rescue and Echuca Regional Health came together for a trauma care workshop for first responders.
It was the sixth workshop in the travelling CareFlight MediSim Victorian tour which began in Portland and Warrnambool in mid-August and finished in Shepparton earlier this month.
The Echuca event saw the 19 volunteers guided through simulated emergency situations including freeing people from cars.
“It was an awesome experience to learn more in trauma care and a big thanks to all the CareFlight team for all they taught us. We were taught skills to do a better job when we are called out,” Echuca Moama Search and Rescue volunteer Ian Ritchie said.
“It was a good balance between inside presentations, hands on learning and then putting all the training together into use in the scenarios,” Echuca CFA volunteer Rhys Pontelandolfo said.
