And they believe residents of the small community know something – but aren’t telling.
‘‘Absolutely we believe someone knows something,’’ Detective Sergeant David Woolfe of the Homicide Squad said.
One man has been charged with murder after handing himself in, but the Homicide Squad is certain another man is involved.
‘‘It’s still an active investigation,’’ Det. Sgt Woolfe said.
Detectives are also looking for a car the pair travelled in and the murder weapon.
While he wouldn’t elaborate on the gun that was used, Det. Sgt Woolfe said police were looking for a black Holden SS ute.
‘‘There are still a number of things we have to do but we still need the public’s help,’’ he said.
‘‘There is already a lot of talk around town so we would appreciate any information.’’
While Det. Sgt Woolfe said he did not believe the killing was a drug hit, the Riv understands police are looking into the possibility the murder is related to the theft of a welder, tool trailer and more than $20,000 worth of tools.
He urged anyone who knew anything to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
‘‘Any information, no matter how small, could help,’’ he said.
