The $7 million renovation has included a new sports bar, cafe, gaming room, lounge areas, kids playroom, teenagers retreat, bistro, function room and reception and alfresco areas.
“There’s not one part of the club that was unrenovated,” general manager Erin Langman said.
“We originally didn’t have plans to spend a large amount on the function room, but given how well the rest of the renovation came up, we couldn’t leave it the way it was.”
That room has now been transformed into a versatile space that can fit 150-160 seated for a meal and 200 for theatre-style seating, with an operable wall that can divide the room into two.
And since the makeover, business has been exactly as Ms Langman has hoped.
“It has increased dramatically. We have doubled our membership and many locals have joined which is significant,” she said.
“The café is addition to our services. Along with the usual things you would expect from a café, we offer hot food all day and the best milkshakes and thickshakes and the Milo thickshake is a must try.”
Ms Langman said Christmas was always a busy time for the club and would be more so with the renovations.
“We’re expecting it to be busy and we can’t wait to look after our members and visitors to our town,” she said.
“The bistro will serve lunch and dinner every day and the sports bar will always have the cricket or featured sport on the video wall.
“We offer many of the same services as our counterparts so our strength would be our location, our great local staff that are happy to serve our customers and the versatility of the club with the various spaces to relax in.
“We pride ourselves on a relaxed atmosphere that anyone can pop in and make it what you want it to be. Whether you come in for dinner with friends or family, or just want to relax on your own with a drink from the bar or the cafe or bring the kids in for a treat from the café and let them burn off some energy in the kids playroom, we are definitely the place to visit.”
And as a not-for-profit organisation that sponsors and supports more than 30 sporting and community groups, the Workers is all about investing back into the region.
“Shopping local should be high on everyone’s agenda,” Ms Langman said.
“If the local businesses aren’t supported, imagine having to travel an hour to other regional centres to do your shopping? It’s not ideal.
“We invest back into the community, so the more we can pass on financial benefits to organisations in our local area, the better for everyone.”
Echuca Workers and the café is open from 9am Monday to Saturday and from 10am on Sundays.
