Starting today.
Moama Bowling Club sales and marketing manager George Santos said the club’s four chefs would be on a roster with two at ENH, five days a week, producing fresh, wholesome meals for people to either pick up or phone and have them home delivered if they are unable to get to ENH.
And we’re not talking canned soups here.
The meals will be made fresh every day, producing gourmet offerings along with fresh baked bread and lashings of butter included.
ENH volunteer Ev Holzer said the free soup and bread package will be available at 261 High St between 12pm and 2pm – Monday to Friday.
She said you can even phone ahead and book your package – just phone 5482 6914 or 0490 704 766.
Ev said the gesture from Moama Bowling Club could not have come at a better time.
“The meals will be packaged in take home containers and if necessary we can arrange contactless home delivery within the Echuca-Moama townships,” Ev added. Moama Bowling Club has also made one of its courtesy vans available to help with delivery of food packages to older or more vulnerable residents unable to get to the Neighbourhood House.
“Clearly there is a need for the tight controls that have been introduced and we will be following them to the letter,” George added.
“But while we are able to support the communities of the twin towns we will be there at the coalface.
“So long as we don’t go to lockdown; the Moama Bowling Club will be providing these services as long as we can – it’s a small thing but if we all do something for someone else we will all be better off as a community.”
Moama Bowling Club has also delivered hundreds of kilograms of fresh food to various support services after stricter coronavirus laws forced it to close its doors.
