Prabhat Prawin from the Moama Bowling Club has been doing just that as he lends his time and expertise to helping the community.
With other chefs at the club, the team have been busy baking and making meals, soup, bread and providing milk to community organisations such as the Echuca Neighbourhood House and the Moama Local Aboriginal Land Council.
Thanks to the volunteers of each community group, people around the twin towns will have access to fresh and delicious home-made foods.
But for the chefs, it's all about giving back.
“The whole world in a tough situation right now and we really wanted to give back,” Mr Prawin said.
“It's our responsibility to help those in need and it's great to be in a position to do so.”
Mr Prawin spent five years working and cooking in Fiji where he learnt the way of locals before bringing his new skills and recipes back to Australia.
“I was able to create up to 200 of my own recipes and it was a great way to learn from locals,” he said.
“I really want to bring these traditional recipes and share them with Echuca and Moama.”
And for Mr Prawin, giving back brings him as much joy as those receiving the meals.
“It's amazing to have the opportunity to use our skills to give a helping hand,” he said.
“It gives us great satisfaction.”
The soup and bread package will be available Monday to Friday at ENH – at 261 High St – between 12pm and 2pm.
