With many people told to stay home, it meant the CLRS have been getting creative with their ideas in recent weeks.
Kim Boland
On April 28, Kim turned 47 and before the day she was down in the dumps knowing her birthday would not be the same this year.
But house manager Andrea had organised a surprise drive-by for Kim and invited her family and friends to come past, toot and offer their best wishes.
At 4.45pm Kim was asked to come out the front of the house and sit down.
Neighbours across the road had made and displayed a beautiful Happy Birthday sign and were sitting enjoying the birthday celebrations.
Immediately, the cars started to come down Minor St with toots and well wishes.
Balloons and cards were presented (social distancing rules observed) and Kim was very happy.
Mum and Dad made an appearance to top off the afternoon.
Lewis Downey
On May 5, Lewis turned 33.
Lewis would normally celebrate at home with family calling in for afternoon tea, presents and cake but this year was different due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Mum, Dad and extended family sent Lewis cards and gifts via the post which he enjoyed receiving, getting quite excited when the postie drove past, put something in the letterbox or rang the doorbell with a delivery.
This year CLRS organised for Lewis’ friends to do a birthday drive-by.
At 2pm Lewis was set up out the front with his party hat and balloons.
Lots of friends drove by with balloons, singing happy birthday, banners attached to cars and even the neighbours got into the spirit tooting their car horns, waving and wishing him a happy birthday.
At 4.30pm Lewis’ family connected with him via Zoom to help him blow out the candles on his cake and to wish him a happy birthday.
