To 542 High St in downtown Echuca.
Where Janine Pain and her Nook on High team have created a charming oasis of opportunity — to have a sit down and enjoy that coffee and cake or meal with family and/or friends.
Or to take a wander around the rest of the store, which includes a terrific homewares and gift shop.
Making Nook on High something of a complete one-stop shop, with a wide range of homewares from décor to kitchen products to spruce up your home or perfect as a gift for loved ones.
“The food is definitely the main attraction, but the Nook is a place where you can shop, get your purchases gift wrapped and then indulge in a moment for a coffee meal — whether it’s breakfast, lunch or just a coffee with friends,” Janine said.
With its prime location in the main street, it’s the perfect central meeting place for a catch-up or a special meal with your family.
Janine is also a strong believer in shopping locally for the benefit of her local community — particularly in the current climate, which is putting enormous pressure on small businesses.
“I always say, give local a try first, if you can’t find it then start looking elsewhere — but it’s so important to give local shops the opportunity first,” Janine said.
And local things are always on the move at Nook on High — the latest release on its diverse multi-purpose menu is Monichino Wines.
The label represents a Goulburn Valley family business that established its label almost 60 years ago and produces its own grapes across 70 acres in the region, bringing, it says, “Italian tradition in Victorian wine”.
Janine said Monichino produces an incredible range of wines, from crisp, refreshing whites to full-bodied reds, spritzy dessert varieties and decadent fortifieds.
She said the focus at Nook on High of ‘local first’ is also appreciated by people in the twin towns.
“We’re very lucky to be supported by locals, we enjoy what we do and serving good-quality food is something we’re passionate about.”
Nook on High is open seven days at 542 High St, Echuca, from 7.30am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.
