Formed 16 years ago, Tungamah Leo Club is the longest running club in the V6 Lions District.
The club supports people from ages 18 and over and a junior section for those under 12.
Last year’s high carp numbers raised expectations of a productive day on the water, however, this year’s event saw 65 participants register, with just five carp caught during the competition.
The largest catch was a 1.8-kilogram carp landed by Noel Maskell, while younger anglers also enjoyed taking part in the event.
The lower catch numbers come as efforts continue to improve local waterways.
Boosey Creek was stocked with 5,000 yellow-belly, in partnership with Fisheries Victoria, to support native fish populations.
The Leo’s have established a partnership with fisheries authorities and continue to receive support for their work.
Waterway improvements include the installation of a fountain, made possible through the combined efforts of the Goulburn Murray Catchment Authority, a First People’s group, Moira Shire and Lions Club.
A raffle generated more than $350 for cancer-related fundraising, while Thawn Waters and Anaconda donated a queen-sized swag to support motor neurone disease (MND) fundraising.
The swag was purchased through a silent auction by local business owner Bruce Beaton, whose General Store also sponsored the event.
The Tungamah Hotel again supported the muster, alongside prize contributors Emu Spirit, Yarrawonga Mulwala Fishing and Camping, Lex Haebich, Spinner Bait Lures and Hannah Belwood.
Members of the Undera Angling Club attended to measure and weigh the fish and record the results.
Tungamah Leo Club president Travis Hook said he was pleased with the day's event.
The club plans to continue its activities, combining community involvement with the local Lions Club and give opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills.
