Road access to the boat has been closed to the public, and fencing will remain on Sawmill Track near the old Echuca-Moama Bridge throughout the operation.

Rain is forecast for Echuca during the weekend, potentially complicating the process.

The PS Canberra started listing on Thursday morning after striking a submerged log.

Murray River Paddlesteamers declined to comment on the progress of the operation.
