Opening over the weekend at Tank’s Art Gallery, Brendan’s astrophotography exhibition welcomed family and friends to view around 20 framed works capturing the beauty of the universe.
Welcoming guests, Brendan not only showcased the magic behind his images and his trusty collection of telescopes, but also presented a humorous and informative slideshow sharing the process behind his work.
He said he had thoroughly enjoyed the astrophotography journey he had been on.
“I was gifted my first telescope, and the journey has grown from there over the past five years,” Brendan said.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey I’ve been on with astrophotography and it’s lovely to have everyone here with me today.”
For Brendan, the exhibition was not just a display of photographs, but a chance to share the patience, technology and curiosity behind each image.
Guests were also given a glimpse into the process behind Brendan’s remarkable images, with the astrophotographer sharing the equipment and techniques that transform faint points of light into detailed cosmic portraits.
“I’ve really enjoyed learning about how it all works and growing with it over the years,” he said.
“You’re seeing things that are there, you just can’t see them with your eyes.”
Brendan’s exhibition is open to the public at Tank’s Art Gallery, 175 Corio St, Shepparton, until Friday, July 17.
Framed images are available for purchase, with all proceeds donated to People Supporting People, a foundation run by Azem Elmaz.
Through Brendan’s lens, distant galaxies and hidden wonders of the universe are brought closer, inspiring others to look up and appreciate the beauty above.
