The event, organised by Cohuna Secondary College students, aimed to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
College leadership team member and classroom teacher Shannon Treacy explained the student-driven initiative.
“Part of my leadership role is student voice and engagement,” he said.
“We have a Student Voice team and students can volunteer to be part of this team.”

The Mother’s Day Classic, Cohuna was an event the Student Voice team at Cohuna Secondary College wanted to put on for the community.
The 2026 event proved highly successful, with 92 participants registering for the day.
“We had a fantastic Mother’s Day in Cohuna,” Mr Treacy said.
“The feedback for the day has been very, very positive with many saying they will be back next year.”
Participants praised the unique bush setting and welcoming atmosphere.
“They loved the bush setting of our track and love the friendly environment that we had created,” Mr Treacy said.
Students walked the course alongside participants, creating opportunities for meaningful interactions.
“I hope the students will organise another in 2027, I will be pushing for it,” Mr Treacy said.
He thanked all participants and the Student Voice team for facilitating the successful community event.
