Emergency service workers often meet people on the worst day of their lives.

Their primary task is to help them, and being a familiar face makes one of the hardest jobs in the world that tiny bit easier.
It’s why Echuca CFA captain Daniel Moylan says days like Campaspe Shire’s emergency services expo are invaluable.
“Meeting and talking to people outside of an emergency context is a huge help,” he said.
“It lets us tell people who we are, what we do, how they can help us, and what they should do to best prepare for the upcoming fire season.”
Representatives from a variety of organisations attended last year’s expo.

The event will return to Echuca’s Hopwood Gardens, giving community members a chance to meet first responders and shire emergency teams while learning practical safety techniques such as sandbagging, storm preparedness and smoke alarm maintenance.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell said the expo had something for the whole family.
“Last year’s Emergency Services Expo was a great success, and it showed how interested our community is in learning more about emergency preparedness in a hands-on and accessible way,” Cr Mackrell said.
“We are pleased to bring the event back this year, giving residents another chance to speak directly with local services, ask questions and take home useful information to help their household prepare.”
The expo will take place at Hopwood Gardens on Saturday, October 24 from 10am to 2pm.
