Farrer MP David Farley has spoken out about his political future after a scandal erupted over an offer of extra staffing from the government, which One Nation leader Pauline Hanson labelled a bribe.
The offer of an extra staffer from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese came without request on Monday, fuelling speculation Mr Farley may be considering a move away from One Nation.
Mr Farley dismissed the reports, thanking the PM for his offer but saying it still fell short of the resources required to represent an electorate the size of Farrer.
“I am not leaving One Nation,” he said.
“Representing Farrer in the House of Representatives requires political courage and tenacity, and I get that in spades with One Nation.”
Labor frontbencher Amanda Rushworth denied her party had tried to poach Mr Farley, telling Channel 7’s Sunrise Senator Hanson was “jumping at shadows”.
“If she’s already having trouble keeping her party together, it says something about her,” she said.
