Community members braved the autumn chill on Saturday, April 25 for the Anzac dawn service held by Echuca RSL sub-branch, where group vice-president Dennis Shanahan led the service as emcee and the 1st Echuca Scouts served coffee and breakfast rolls at the conclusion of the event.
Mr Shanahan was thrilled with the turnout for the dawn service, estimating there were about 1000 people in attendance and, according to the Scouts group, it might have been bigger than last year’s crowd.
The commemorations continued later into the morning with a march down Hare St at 10.40am, led by members of the Echuca Federal Band, followed by the Vietnam Veterans group, emergency services personnel, school students and community groups.
Echuca District Vietnam Veterans branch participated in the march.
