Having served in the Australian Army for almost 30 years, Brad Robertson is stepping up as the National Party candidate to serve his community in a different capacity.
Born and raised in regional NSW, Mr Robertson became a Farrer resident in 2019 when he moved near Albury with his wife and three children.
Mr Robertson currently serves his community through volunteer work, supporting cancer care through the Sunshine Trust and the veterans' community through Carry On and Veterans Housing Australia.
He was motivated to join the election race to help improve services and infrastructure throughout the region — including health and hospital services and roads — and fight for water security and cheaper and fairer energy for Farrer residents.
As part of the Nationals, Mr Robertson said he would be able to create real change for regional communities.
“The Nationals are the only political party dedicated to representing regional Australia — that is our sole focus and part of our DNA,” he said.
“Working in coalition, and as a party of government, the Nationals are the only party which can turn words into action for regional communities and secure real benefits for families, businesses and industries in the regions.
“We are not beholden to big-city donors with secret agendas, or interested in the cult of personality. Our views and values come from living and working in the regions, and delivering for regional communities — day-in, day-out.”
He believes the key issues affecting the electorate right now include the cost of living, fuel supply and prices, food and water security, health and hospital services, and delivering cheaper, better, fairer energy.
He will also support the proposal of a private community hospital in Moama, if all necessary conditions for the facility are met.
If elected, Mr Robertson said he would be “out and about regularly in all corners of the electorate” to listen to people’s issues and concerns, and fight for Farrer in parliament.
