State Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp last week encouraged women across Northern Victoria to explore the exciting opportunities made available through the Accelerating Women into Automotive initiative, which is a gateway to an apprenticeship in the field.
“There are so many rewarding careers available across the automotive industry, and we want more Victorian women to take up the opportunity to explore and pursue their passion,” Mr Gepp said.
Participants undertake a four-week intensive introduction through their local TAFE provider, covering the many in-demand jobs that are available across Victoria, including technicians, panel beaters, spray painters and more.
They also receive training, work experience, assistance starting an apprenticeship and ongoing support throughout.
Accelerating Women into Automotive is delivered by Chisholm TAFE and Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce alongside automotive workplaces in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The government has invested $618,000 into the program, which is part of the $5 million Women in Trades fund, removing barriers faced by women wanting to start a rewarding career in traditionally male-dominated trades, such as plumbing, electrical and aviation.
