Rural councils from across Victoria are joining forces in Swan Hill this Friday to launch a state election campaign demanding greater investment in country communities.

Rural Councils Victoria will officially launch its Invest in Rural Victoria campaign, with dozens of mayors and council chief executives expected to attend the forum.
The campaign is pushing for a better deal for rural communities, including a proposed $1 billion Rural and Regional Victoria Productivity and Growth Fund, more money for country roads and bridges, improved funding for community facilities and housing, and long-term sustainable funding for rural councils.
Campaspe Shire councillor Rob Amos, who chairs RCV, will speak at the media conference alongside other rural mayors.
The campaign will also drive local community advocacy in the lead-up to the November election, with RCV urging residents to put rural priorities directly to political candidates.
RCV says rural communities are being held back without greater investment in infrastructure, services and economic development — investment that is critical to sustaining growth and quality of life in the regions.
The campaign will run right through to election day, with councils set to champion local priorities and urge residents to make their voices heard with political parties and candidates.
