A total of 30 schools from across NSW were competing for the title, with the local team comprising Jackson Haas-Laing, Franky Bryce, Monique Rochford and Jobe Marshall being assigned the third heat to race against eight other schools.
They had a fantastic run setting a new personal best time of 1.01.23 and placing second in their heat, earning them a spot in the final later in the day.
The St Joey’s team ran their hearts out in the final and placed seventh out of the nine schools competing in the final.
Jerilderie Primary School’s 2009 relay team still hold the record for the race with an impressive time of 54.48 seconds.
Jackson, Franky, Monique and Jobe and their families would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation for everyone’s support and encouragement and the generous donation from MAKATAK towards their trip.

There is plenty for families to look forward to this weekend in Jerilderie, with two fantastic free community events on the calendar!
The Jerilderie Sports Club's annual Halloween Party is set for Saturday, October 31, promising an evening of spooky fun for children and families.
Trick-or-treating kicks off at 5pm, with maps of participating houses available for collection from the Sports Club.
Families can then make their way around town before returning to the club at 6.30pm for best-dressed prizes and Halloween-themed music.
All children participating in trick-or-treating must be accompanied by a responsible adult, who will also collect the map and register children for the best-dressed competition.
The fun continues on Sunday, November 1, when the Jerilderie Fishing Club hosts its annual Kids Go Fishing Day at the Cape.
The day kicks off at 9am running until 12pm; this popular free event is a wonderful opportunity for children to enjoy a morning of fishing and outdoor fun. It will conclude with a barbecue and prizes.
For enquiries about the fishing day, please contact Steve Dagliesh on 0428 861 879.

Jerilderie Tidy Towns AGM is scheduled for 4pm Monday, November 2 at the Monash Room in the Jerilderie library. All welcome.
Well done to the Jerilderie Tidy Towns Committee and Murrumbidgee Council for coordinating the relocation and installation of the Ian Sneddon Memorial Community Noticeboard.
Previously located at the Tidy Towns building near the lake, the noticeboard was removed ahead of the building’s demolition and construction of the Luke Park toilet block.
The noticeboard has now found a new home at RSL Park, on the side wall of the RSL Hub facing the Monash-Kelly statue.
Community groups and residents wishing to display notices are welcome to contact Jerilderie Tidy Towns or council, who both hold keys to access the board.
