Campaspe Shire Salvation Army, which covers Echuca, Moama, Rochester and Kyabram, as well as Deniliquin, will launch its 2026 appeal with a morning tea.
Salvation Army ministry assistant Barbara Kissell said every cent raised here stayed here to help local people.
‘’While the money raised annually in this appeal is always important, this year is even more critical because every 17 seconds, the Salvos in Australia help someone in need.
‘’Help is made possible through the generosity of people across Campaspe Shire, as well as Moama, Deniliquin and Barham, who support the Red Shield Appeal.
“The compounded impact of the financial and social events of the past few years means homelessness and hardship is fast becoming the reality for an increasing number of individuals and families, including more employed Australians.’’
The Salvation Army has been assisting Australians for more than 140 years — providing shelter, safety and support to those in need.
“In just the past financial year, The Salvation Army Australia provided more than one million nights of accommodation and more than $24 million in financial assistance via cash, gift cards, vouchers and more to those in need,’’ Ms Kissell said.
“This Red Shield Appeal, we ask you to support us, and be the hope people desperately need to move through uncertainty, towards stability.”
The morning tea is on Monday, May 18, at 10am at the Salvos’ Store, 119 Ogilvie Ave, Echuca, and everyone is invited and asked to wear red.
