A section of the boardwalk will be temporarily closed while council contractors replace the existing timber decking with a more durable and environmentally friendly wood-plastic composite surface.
Deputy Mayor Justin King said the upgrade was an important investment in one of Benalla’s most popular walking routes.
“The Lake Benalla Trail is used every day by locals and visitors, so it’s essential that the infrastructure supporting it is safe, accessible and built to last,” Cr King said.
“This upgrade will ensure the boardwalk remains a reliable and enjoyable part of the trail for many years to come.”
Works are expected to be completed by Friday, May 29, weather permitting.
To ensure safe movement around the site, accessible detours are in place with detailed signage at the site.
Cr King thanked the community for its patience during the works.
“We know temporary closures can be inconvenient, but these improvements will make the boardwalk safer, more accessible and more resilient to future weather events.
“We appreciate everyone’s understanding while the upgrade is completed.”
