Jye Osborne, 25, and Noah Milner, 24, will complete the 42.2km run on May 9, circling a crocodile statue in Humpty Doo in the Northern Territory.
The pair plan to complete 4200 laps of the statue, with the effort expected to take between 10 and 12 hours.
They are aiming to raise $10,000 for cancer research and support services, motivated by the impact the disease has had on people close to them.
Mr Osborne said the cause was deeply personal.
“We’ve both had people in our lives affected by cancer, so it’s something we really wanted to support,” he said.
The idea came as the pair travelled around Australia, looking for a unique way to give back.
“We wanted to do something Australian and a bit different, and running around a crocodile just made sense,” Mr Osborne said.
Taking on the challenge in Crocs adds another layer of difficulty.
“We chose Crocs because we’re running around a crocodile, and it makes it more of a challenge,” he said.
A local fundraiser at the Shine Bright thrift shop will also be held ahead of the run, featuring a barbecue and entertainment by the Paddle Steamer Passengers, along with more planned for Wednesday, April 29 from 10.30am to 2pm.
The main event will be live-streamed on May 9, with raffle prizes also up for grabs as part of the fundraiser.
Donations can be made via the pair’s Instagram page, BoofnNoi, where a link to their fundraising page is available. Those unable to donate are encouraged to support by sharing the fundraiser online.
Come down to the Shine Bright thrift shop for the fundraiser to support the boys. Bindi Stewart, Phillippa Addicott, Jade Rourke and Mikayla Armstrong will be there to show their support.
