State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced an investment totalling $794,648 for library upgrades in Hopetoun, Boort, Red Cliffs, Tallangatta and five Mitchell Shire towns, including Kilmore, Broadford and Seymour.
Across the shire, five library branches will share in $102,956 to deliver private pods for study, telehealth and online meetings.
“These upgrades give families, students and workers better places to learn, work and connect,” Ms Symes said.
The Victorian Government fund has been running over the past 12 years, with $61.6 million invested into 191 library projects across Victoria during that time.
Local councils also chip in for each project.
Minister for Local Government Tim Richardson said libraries were important for regional Victorian communities.
“From storytime in Hopetoun to telehealth in Kilmore, local libraries bring country communities together,” Mr Richardson said.
“Libraries are free, local and open to everyone — that’s why Labor keeps investing in them.”
