Jamaine Baksh, 29, of Shepparton appeared briefly in custody in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 20, after having been arrested in Kialla on April 16.
Police allege a Kia Stinger sedan was stolen from Jumping Creek Rd, Warrandyte, before a second Kia Stinger sedan was stolen from Raymond St, Dandenong, on March 22.
A Chevrolet utility was then allegedly stolen from Midstar Crt, Kialla, on April 7.
It is alleged the unmarked police car, a blue Kia Sorento, was stolen from a car dealership on Benalla Rd on Friday, April 10.
A Holden Calais sedan was allegedly stolen from Pyrenees Rd, Clyde, on the same day.
Two days later, on April 12, a Toyota HiLux was allegedly stolen during an aggravated burglary at a property on Bateman Dve, Echuca.
Cash, keys and personal items were also allegedly stolen during the incident.
A seventh vehicle, a Ford Falcon sedan, was allegedly stolen from Orrvale Rd, Orrvale, on April 13.
All of the cars, except for the Ford Falcon sedan, have been found.
It is also alleged Mr Baksh stole police lights and police jackets from the unmarked police car and used them.
Mr Baksh has been charged with seven counts of theft of motor vehicle, stealing and using police lights and police jackets, trafficking methamphetamines, possessing GHB, possessing methamphetamines, dealing with the proceeds of crime (various tools), and dishonest retention of stolen goods (number plates).
He is also charged with burglary with an offensive weapon, theft, unlicensed driving, obtaining property by deception, two counts of theft, and five counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail.
The court heard he also had 38 other charges that had previously been part heard by the court.
Mr Baksh was remanded in custody to next appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in May on the new Goulburn Valley and Melbourne charges, as well as the existing part-heard charges, while he was remanded to next appear in Bendigo Magistrates’ Court in July on the aggravated burglary charge.
