Deniliquin’s new Australia Post delivery centre is progressing well, and is expected to be operational by the end of this year.
The multi-million project was announced in May last year, with construction starting earlier this year.
The project is being delivered by Snowy Valley Developments at the corner of Macauley and Ochtertyre Sts.
It will run in tandem with the existing Australia Post office in the Deniliquin CBD.
“The purpose-built facility will support delivery operations across the Murray region, improving service reliability and helping parcels reach local customers and businesses sooner,” an Australia Post spokesperson said.
“It will have the capacity to handle up to 3500 parcels per day during peak periods, and is designed to support future growth as parcel demand continues to rise.
“Key features of the facility include solar PV and battery storage, as well as a 24/7 parcel locker to provide customers with more flexible and convenient collection options.”
Existing Deniliquin-based Australia Post staff will operate the facility, which has been designed to provide a safer, more modern working environment.
