Led by volunteers from Goulburn Valley Pride, the festival was established to reduce isolation and support LGBTIQA+ people living in regional Victoria.
This year’s Homegrown and Glowing theme also celebrates 21 years of Goulburn Valley Pride, recognising local volunteers, advocates, businesses and community members who have contributed to pride in the region over more than two decades.
Festival convenor Damien Stevens-Todd said the event remained focused on connection and diversity.
“Regional communities are stronger when everyone feels they belong,” he said.
“OUTintheOPEN continues to provide opportunities for people to come together, celebrate diversity and connect with one another.”
The 15-day program includes community events, arts and cultural activities, workshops and social gatherings.
The festival’s flagship free event, Carnival Day, will be held at Queen’s Gardens on Saturday, November 7.
Other highlights include Drag Singo Bingo, a community trip to Castlemaine Pride and the Carnival Day After Glow Party.
GV Pride president Suzanne Muntz said the festival highlighted the value of inclusion in regional communities.
“The festival brings together people from all walks of life and demonstrates the strength that comes from respecting and celebrating diversity,” Ms Muntz said.
