But while rally drivers enjoyed the open road, the true highlight of the Rally 4 Youth stopover was an action-packed community day for Moama Public School students.
The atmosphere was buzzing as kids got up close to the rally cars before diving into the main event ― a fast-paced bike building competition.
Working in teams, the students raced against the clock to assemble brand-new bicycles from scratch.
The day was a triumph — not just because of the teamwork, but also the excitement when the kids found out the bikes were theirs to keep.
Eleven-year-old and self-confessed “bike head” Chase was thrilled by the surprise.
"I was pretty excited," Chase said, noting the students would absolutely be riding them every day.
When asked what he planned to get everyone to do, his answer was simple: “wheelies”.
The generous donation promises to transform the school’s recreation activities, with exciting talk of a future pump track.
Before testing out his new wheels, Chase shared a grateful message on behalf of his classmates.
“I’d like to say I want to give them a huge thank you for all the bikes and giving us this competition,” he said.
Students team up with community volunteers to carefully assemble and tune their new bikes during the high-energy building competition at the local vineyard stopover.
