But it was not until last week that Reflections – the 23-room accommodation complex at Rich River Golf Club – was officially opened for business.
RRGC chief executive Shane Gloury did the talking, club president Susan Hull cut the ribbon, guests did the clapping and everyone checked out one or more of the new rooms on show.
Mr Gloury described Reflections as “a new chapter of relaxation and connection” for Echuca-Moama.
An opportunity he said was not just great for the twin towns but was also just 2.5 hours from Melbourne.

“We believe we have delivered our members and our customers with a stylish new accommodation experience offering a peaceful escape surrounded by beautiful waterways, sweeping green views and the natural charm of the Murray River region,” Mr Gloury said.
“And I think when people look around at what we have created here, it will be fair to say we’ve got plenty to be proud of,” he said.

“What makes this even more special is knowing Reflections is an achievement of the entire Rich River organisation.
“We have done all this without government grant funding, through the hard work, commitment and determination of our people.”
Mr Gloury said Reflections was an overnight success story which had been years in the making.
Achieved, he added, through sound financial management, careful planning, and a lot of “blood, sweat and tears”.
“I also want to touch on what Rich River means to our wider community because sometimes I think it’s easy to underestimate just how much our club contributes to the local economy,” Mr Gloury said.
“Our existing motel generates 20,000 room nights of accommodation every year – and Reflections will also enable us to now modernise that section of the club,” he said.
“We welcome 120,000 individual visitors through our doors and provide employment to 220 people – Rich River is more than a golf club; we’re a very important part of the economic fabric of Echuca-Moama.
“And that’s something worth reflecting on.”
