Preparations have started for the event to be held at Rochester Racecourse Recreation Reserve on Saturday, October 24, from 8am to 2pm.
The event will feature eight competition categories; five raffle draws and 10 sponsored trophies.
Rochester Motoring Club vice-president Alan Matterson-Harrison said the event had grown significantly over the years.
“At the 2025 Rochester Show ’n’ Shine, I think we got about 250 cars or somewhere in that region,” he said.
“The number of cars is growing all the time.”
Alan has been a club member for at least nine years, after moving to Rochester while building a hot rod, a project that has stretched to 30 years.
“My son doesn't think it will ever get finished,” he said.
He also owns a 1948 Morris Eight sedan and a 1955 Wolseley 4/44.
“It is a four-door sedan from 1955 and if you watch old British TV, you will see lots of Wolseleys that were used as police cars,” he said.
“If you are looking at the shape, it is sort of the era of the FJ Holden-type shape.”

The club has 218 registered vehicles and about 30 motorbikes on its books.
“Any vehicle over 25 years old is eligible to be on a permit and be a member of our club,” Alan said.
“It doesn’t matter whether you have a hot rod, a Mercedes or Holden; you are all welcome.”
He encouraged more owners of motorcycles, trucks and four-wheel drives to enter.
“There are trophies for two categories for motorcycles and two for trucks,” he said.
“It would be great to have more four-by-fours come along and be in the show ’n’ shine, as more and more of them are on permits now and people are looking after them really well.”
There are two motorcycle categories and two for trucks, with eight categories and 10 trophies in total for the day.

Entry for participants is $10, with a $2 donation requested from spectators, with children under-15 enjoying free entry.
Vehicles can arrive from 8am at the Rochester 4Rs on Diggora Rd.
Alan said the event held particular significance for the flood-affected community.
“Post-flood, it has become very important to bring people to Rochester and support the town, because although you don't see it when you drive past, we are still suffering,” he said.
“We want to create this show ’n’ shine to be a success, to bring people, even though it is just for one day, to bring people in, create a situation where people come to Rochy and can see what we are like.”
The Lions club will manage food and market stalls on the day.
Alan gave special recognition to sponsors, including Rochester Mitre 10, which supplied two wheelbarrows for the raffle, as well as Coolabah Turf, Campaspe Shire Council and Major’s IGA Rochester.
“Just about every business in Rochy is a supporter of this event,” he said.
“We will be having five raffle draws on the day and nearly all the small businesses in Rochester have contributed something, which we are thankful for.”
