This year’s show will be held on Wednesday, October 21 from 9am to 4pm at the Numurkah Showgrounds.
Numurkah Show Society president Stu Cameron describes the championship dog show as one of the annual highlights.
“There’s usually 300-400 dogs, it’s one of the biggest dog shows,” he said.
Mr Cameron is one of the organisers of the beef cattle program.
He said while it was disappointing there were no dairy cattle events this year, there would be a number of beef cattle events in the program.
This includes some specifically for youth. He said youth events played a critical role in encouraging the younger generation to become interested in the industry.
Mr Cameron said the cattle events usually feature seven or eight different breeds of cattle.
Animal lovers can visit the animal nursery, featuring snakes, calves, sheep, baby goats and ponies.
Mr Cameron said the snakes were a highlight for many visitors.
Another popular event is the bush poetry competition.
Visitors can also enjoy the vast range of craft and home produce that will be on display.
Meanwhile, there will also be an exhibit from the local garden club.
Mr Cameron said the show had significant social and economic benefits for the town.
“It’s good for the local community, it brings money to the area,” he said.
He said it was pleasing to see many school students attend the event every year, helping to preserve the rich history of the event.
“It’s a good family day,” he said.
