Having led the event in 2025, Crossenvale Community House volunteer Belinda Threlfall is planning an expanded Halloween program for 2026.
“Last year we had activities including pumpkin bowling; we had colouring in, and of course, lollies to give out,” Belinda said.
“All the kids loved the pumpkin bowling.”
This year promises even more.
“I will have a friend come along and do free face painting; we are going to have little ceramic pumpkins you can paint,” Belinda said.
“There will be a Halloween photo booth and a spooky sensory box full of creepy crawlies.”
A decorated house and the returning pumpkin bowling will also feature on the night.
“Any age children are welcome to wear their scariest costumes and come along to this free night, as long as they have a parent or guardian with them,” Belinda said.
Activities at the event will include pumpkin bowling, free face painting, painting ceramic pumpkins, a Halloween photo booth and a spooky sensory box.

Belinda began her connection with Crossenvale Community House through work experience while completing her VCE VM at TAFE.
Unsure of where to go, she turned to her aunt, fellow volunteer Lisa, for advice.
“I knew my aunt, who is also a volunteer here, Lisa, volunteered,” Belinda said.
“So, I asked her about Crossenvale and she said, ‘Yep, it would be a good place’.”
After connecting with Crossenvale Community House Manager Rob Foran, Belinda completed her placement and never looked back.
“I just really enjoyed it here, so I signed up as a volunteer after work experience,” she said.
Among her regular duties, Belinda heads up the community mosaic program.
“We are currently working on a Crossenvale logo table with mosaic pieces, and we have people come in and join as they please,” she said.
The group has already completed an Aboriginal and Australian flag mosaic, with the Crossenvale logo set to go on display in the house's backyard once finished.
