DONATIONS are being taken for the Moama man who lost his home and almost all his possessions in a fiery inferno last night.

Steve Walker was lucky to escape after the lawnmower he was working on sparked an intense blaze in his Francis St garage before engulfing the entire house.
He was left helplessly looking on as the fire completely destroyed the brick home and everything inside.
Murray River Police District Inpsector Paul Huggett, in conjunction with Murray River Council, has set up a donation bin where people can leave items for Steve that he may need.
“We are a community-based police station. We are part of the community and this poor man has lost everything,” Insp. Huggett said.
“I have asked council for a blue recycle bin that will be put out the front of the police station, where people can drop off items such as clothing and the like and I will ensure they get to him.”
Steve wears a pants size 30 (waist), medium shirt and size 10 boots.
Insp. Huggett said the bin should be at the Maiden St station by the end of today.
“If it’s not there, people can drop stuff at the front door and I will make sure everything that is donated will get to him,” he said.
The fire was reported at 6.32pm with fire brigade units from both sides of the river attending.
