Police were called to the caravan park after multiple reports of a violent confrontation.
A 28-year-old Merrigum man was charged on Sunday with the murder of a 30-year-old man.
The 30-year-old died at the scene.
The 28-year-old was taken to hospital in a stable condition, and later released from hospital and taken into police custody.
He has been remanded to appear at Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 7.
EARLIER, Saturday, September 5: Detectives are investigating the death of a man in Merrigum early on Saturday, September 5.
Police said emergency services were called following reports a man had been assaulted at a caravan park on Waverley Ave about 3.10am.
They found two men who appeared injured, with one of them unresponsive.
Local police provided immediate assistance to the pair and performed CPR on one of the men who couldn’t be revived.
The other man was taken to hospital with serious but what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Homicide Squad detectives are at the scene investigating the death.
Officers from the Major Crime Scene Unit will attend also.
