Echuca now leads the way despite having one less win than Tongala, with the new leaders sitting ahead on points won, 110 to 109.
A 14-shot win over Rich River saw the change of positions, with Dennis Compton, Geoff Beattie, John Dinsdale and Mark Evans particularly influential in the victory.
Their 18-shot rink win was crucial, considering the match’s other two rinks were decided by less than five shots.
Tongala slipped down the ladder despite coming out on top against Deniliquin by nine shots, winning two out of three rinks.
Bill Hatzie, David Cartwright, David Townsend and Scott Donaldson were the most impressive performers winning their rink by 11 shots.
Moama got the better of their fellow NSW club Mathoura by 15 shots, with Issac Rayner’s rink leading the way with an 11-shot win.
And in the division’s final match, Rochester comfortably accounted for last placed Deni RSL by 23 shots.
In division two, Moama ensured they would remain at the top of the ladder for another week after defeating fellow finals contender Mathoura by 14 shots.
Meanwhile in other two matches, Deniliquin comfortably accounted for Tongala, 91 shots to 54, Echuca got the better of Rich River and Rochester were too strong for Lockington.
Moama’s perfect record in division three is no longer after they were shocked by Mathoura who currently sit outside of the finals positions – with the Cutters coming away with the win by just one shot.
Elsewhere, Rich River narrowly defeated Echuca, Deniliquin were too good for Elmore and Deni RSL powered their way past Rochester.
In division four, finals contenders Rich River and Moama played out a thriller as, the former coming away with a three-shot victory despite winning just one rink for the day.
Tongala meanwhile moved closer to the competition’s top four with a strong victory over Ky Valley View as Lockington and Mathoura both also scored wins.
Division five action saw ladder leaders Deniliquin easily account for last placed Tongala, while Deni RSL, Echuca and Moama also finished the day as winners.
Mid-week pennant
Moama have sent a reminder to the competition that they are the team to beat in this year’s mid-week pennant with a commanding victory over Mathoura.
The Cutters proved to be no match for Moama as they stormed to a 62 shots to 33 win, winning all three rinks.
The rink including Lola Williams, Marilyn Stephenson, Melissa Roberts and Vern Rehe was the most productive, winning their respective match-up by 11 shots.
In other division one matches, Rich River secured a narrow win over Deniliquin while Rochester got the better of Echuca.
In division two, Moama defeated Elmore, Rich River were too strong for Lockington and Echuca beat Rochester.
Meanwhile in division three, Mathoura defeated Deniliquin by 15 shots, Moama Red were too good for Tongala, Moama Green beat Rich River and Ky Valley View got the better of Echuca.
