Border Raider Charley Schwencke has had overseas doors opened for her before.
In 2025, she competed at the Orange County Championships in the United States for the Football Victoria Academy.
And now, she’s been invited to attend a three-month training academy in Spain.
The opportunity is with CF Pozuelo, well-deserved after Schwencke took her game to another level in 2026.
Being captain of the FV Greater Bendigo under-14 side and selection in the Bendigo City program was the evidence.
And there was her performances locally.
Schwencke scored six goals in 13 games for the senior Border Raiders — not too bad given the opposition was usually much older.
But getting Schwencke to one of world’s soccer capitals is not easy — and her family is looking for sponsorships and donations to cover significant expenses.
The Border Raiders have addressed locals on social media, asking whether any businesses or individuals want to support.
